The Sunlight Market is a monthly outdoor street festival / marketplace on Gay Street in Downtown Columbus. It takes place monthly on Sundays from April through October from 11am to 3pm. The event draws thousands of visitors each month to enjoy the brick-and-mortar businesses in the area who open early with special hours and promotions, in addition to over 50 sidewalk vendors who pop-up to sell a wide variety of artisan products. Street musicians add musical ambiance and sidewalk patios come alive with al fresco diners. Mark your calendar and join us at the next Sunlight Market on Gay Street!
The Sunlight Market was founded by the Gay Street Collaborative (GSC) non-profit business association in 2016. The GSC is a collective of local business owners who want to showcase the vibrancy and energy of Downtown Columbus and promote the diverse range of businesses that call the Gay Street area home. The Sunlight Market serves as a fundraiser for the GSC and your support of the event helps to boost the small business economy Downtown.
About Gay Street
Gay Street, in the middle of Downtown Columbus, is a true pocket of metropolitan spirit. Shops, restaurants and cafes line the street, making it the perfect spot for an evening market. With everything from custom wallets to hand roasted coffee to ethnic cuisine, the insurgence of business and entrepreneurial energy over the past fifteen years has made Gay Street a new destination for both urban professionals who call the area home, and for those who want to visit and experience the heart of the city.
The storied history of Gay Street, with its late 19th and early 20th century brick and stone buildings, gives the District its classic character. Brick alleys and streetlight-trimmed sidewalks juxtapose vintage aesthetic against the fresh and enterprising shops, businesses, restaurants and residents that have chosen to call this charming street home.
